Located in the quiet Nikko Fudoson Park area, Meiji-no-Yakata is
a restaurant originally built as a Western style cottage for American trading merchant,
F.W. Horn, who introduced the first electric gramophone (Chikuonki) to Japan.
When you open the entrance door of the building, you will be impressed by
the elegance of the sophisticated space where the Westernization movement
in Japan unfolded during the Meiji era. Today, you can experience this era
by visiting our Meiji-no-Yakata restaurant in Nikko.
Come and enjoy a relaxing moment back in time while savoring the popular
Western style dishes that were introduced to Japan during the Meiji era.
<Meiji-no-Yakata was registered as a National Tangible Cultural Property in 2006.>
